A delicious casual lunch or dinner spot for Portuguese barbecue.
Food:
The Portuguese barbecue at Pulaski always hits the spot! I love the chicken because of the seasoning. Its super juicy while at the same time have crisp skin. The fries are thin and salted to perfection and the yellow rice is hearty and tastes great.
Price:
Super cheap for the quantity of food you get! A half chicken can feed two while a full chicken will feed four.
Half Chicken w/ Fries and Rice: $5.50
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere at Pulaski Barbecue is very relaxed and great for groups or families. There is a large dining room area if you want to sit down and eat but if you prefer to pick food up and take it home, they also have an area for take out orders. It can get busy so it sometimes its hard to get the attention of the waiters but for the most part they are pretty attentive. There are some TV's in the dining room area. The waiters speak Spanish and English. -

Pulaski Barbecue is on of about a thousand Portuguese barbecue spots in the iron bound and the food was decent. I ordered the garlic shrimp with the usual yellow rice which also came with fries. I'm not a big fan of the fries with barbecue because even though they are tasty they always get soggy.
The shrimp was good....but I am a big fan of garlic and I thought they could have had a bit stronger of a garlic flavor but that is nitpicking I guess. The rice was good too, maybe a little light on flavor but not bad.
The prices are very reasonable and the restaurant at looked clean. The parking is horrible but welcome to Newark.....lol. At least it's in a good neighborhood. All in all it was decent food at a good price. -

Love this place for its simplicity. I come every time and order the combo ! It brings the most tasty bbq ribs , chicken ,rice and fries . This combo is more than enough for 3 people and I believe it's less than $26 ! You can not beat that ! They have a very tasty salad as well ! Every time I come here they don't disappoint with their freshly barbecued meat !

Great Portuguese platters. Usually pick them up when I am having large groups at my house and do not feel like cooking. A large tray of ribs, half a chicken, yellow rice, and fries for less then $20 per tray that can feed 4 or more.

chicken and rice were so good! very fresh and you get lot! my family loved it. fries were food too just a bit greasy.
